Rawalian Undergraduate Research Conference, 16 December 2026, Main Campus RMU, Tipu Road, Rawalpindi. Organised by the Rawalian Students’ Research Society (RSRS), Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU).

What is RS-RECON ’26?

RS-RECON ’26 is the 11th Annual Rawalian Undergraduate Research Conference. Undergraduate students present their research, receive feedback from judges and participate in research competitions. The conference aims to foster a culture of research, critical thinking and evidence-based practice among future healthcare professionals.

When and where will the conference be held?

The conference will be held on 16 December 2026 at Main Campus RMU, Tipu Road, Rawalpindi.

Who is eligible to attend or participate?

Undergraduate students from any medical institution may register to present or compete. Those who wish to attend without submitting work may register as Observers.

How does one register?

Fill in the registration page and verify your email. Your User ID is then created and your profile opens. Select Apply now, choose your categories, and submit your abstract if a presentation category needs one. Your fee is shown after that. Further categories may be added from your dashboard while registration remains open, and a separate code is issued for each category.

Who is organising RS-RECON ’26?

The conference is organised by the Rawalian Students’ Research Society (RSRS) at Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU). Founded in March 2014, RSRS was RMU’s first student research society and brings together undergraduates from all five years of study.

What is the registration fee?

Your fee is shown in your dashboard after you create your account, choose your categories and submit any abstract they need.

What is the registration deadline?

Registration opens on 10 November 2026 and closes on 5 December 2026.

Are payments refundable?

No. All payments are non-refundable.

Is there a fee for a co-presenter?

No. There is no extra fee for a co-presenter. Each abstract may have one co-presenter at most.

What happens if I am an RMU student?

Please select Yes for the RMU student question on the registration page. After verifying your email, you must upload a photo of your student card before you can continue. Cards are cross-checked by the organisers, and an account with a false claim may be blocked.

When is the fee paid?

If you chose a presentation category, fill in your abstract first. If you also chose a competition, pay that fee next: your abstract is submitted only once that payment is submitted. Presentation fees are paid only after the abstract is accepted, which you will be told by email, and the final file upload opens once that payment is verified.

May I register for more than one category?

Yes. A single account covers all your applications. You may apply for any combination of categories from your dashboard while registration remains open, but not for a category you have already applied for. Each application has its own status and decision.

What are the fun activities?

Research Photobooth, Research Puzzle, Wall of Inspiration, Medicine Myth vs Fact and Spin the Wheel. They are free, but cannot be selected alone. Register for at least one other category, and Join as Observer is enough, then add any of them at no extra charge.

May I attend without competing?

Yes. Select "Join as Observer" at registration. Observers may attend the sessions and poster displays without submitting any work.

How is an abstract submitted?

Register for a presentation category (Oral, Poster or Online). Open your dashboard, complete the structured abstract form (drafts may be saved), preview the abstract and continue to the fee step, where the final submission is made. A receipt is then sent to you by email, and your abstract code is issued only if it is accepted.

What types of abstracts are accepted?

Original research and reviews of any study design are accepted, including trials; cross-sectional, case-control and cohort studies; database studies; systematic reviews and meta-analyses; scoping and narrative reviews; case reports and series; qualitative and mixed-methods studies; diagnostic accuracy studies; medical education research; and laboratory studies. Specialties include Medicine and Allied, Surgery and Allied, Psychiatry, Public Health, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Paediatrics, and Basic Sciences and Medical Education.

What are the abstract format and word limit?

Abstracts follow a structured format: title; presenter and co-presenter (maximum one) with affiliations; Background, Objectives, Materials and Methods, Results and Conclusion; and 3 to 5 keywords. The limit is 300 words for all sections combined. Full details are provided on the Guidelines page.

What is the abstract submission deadline?

The abstract submission deadline is 5 December 2026.

How are abstracts reviewed?

The scientific committee reviews every abstract and notifies the author of its decision by email: accepted, not accepted, or revision requested. If a revision is requested, the abstract must be edited from the dashboard and resubmitted within 3 days, and no later than 5 December 2026.

Does the confirmation email indicate acceptance?

No. The confirmation email acknowledges receipt only. The committee will review the abstract and issue a separate decision by email: accepted, not accepted, or revision requested.

May I submit more than one abstract?

Yes. One abstract may be submitted for each presentation category in which you are registered (Oral, Poster or Online). Each accepted abstract receives its own code.

May I amend my abstract after submission?

No. A submitted abstract is locked unless the committee requests a revision. Drafts may be edited at any time before submission.

When should the PowerPoint presentation or poster be uploaded?

Files may be uploaded only after the abstract has been accepted, when the upload option becomes available on your dashboard. Uploads must be completed by 10 December 2026.

What is the RS-RECON e-book?

The e-book is an online collection of accepted abstracts, published on this website. No separate e-book submission is required: when submitting an Oral, Online or Poster abstract, select "Yes, I consent to publication" in the Publication Consent section at the end of the form. If the committee accepts the abstract and approves it for the e-book, it will be published and you will receive an email containing the link.

May I submit an abstract solely for the e-book?

No. Every e-book abstract must also be an Oral, Online or Poster abstract. Publication consent is given at the time of submission.

Will participants receive certificates?
